Real Madrid are set to make a major splash in the transfer market this summer, with the Spanish giants poised to land Barcelona midfielder Cesar Azpilicueta.
The 31-year-old is set to become the latest signing to depart Real for a lucrative £25 million, with Chelsea looking to offload their star player.
With Cesc still in the process of securing a new contract at the Bernabeu, Chelsea will look to bolster their midfield this summer in the wake of the arrival of Chelsea’s Cesc.
Azpilicul is currently a free agent, having turned down Chelsea’s first-team offers in favour of joining Barcelona.
The midfielder has impressed in Spain since joining the Catalan club in 2013, with his performances helping Barcelona to reach the Champions League semi-finals in both 2015 and 2016.
The Catalan giants have also won La Liga three times since he joined, while he has been instrumental in helping the side to the title in each of his two seasons at the club.
While Barcelona have been busy on the transfer front this summer with the arrival the likes of Andres Iniesta, Pedro, Andres Suárez and Lucas Leiva, Chelsea are yet to make any major signing this transfer window.
The Spaniards have already made their mark on the Premier League in the form of a third-placed finish last season, and will be hoping to keep their title aspirations alive this time around.
